Job summary

BERKELEY COUNTY GOVERNMENT is seeking a Facilities/Maintenance worker in Moncks Corner to perform routine building and grounds maintenance across county facilities. The role includes upkeep of landscapes, cleaning, basic repairs, event setup, and adherence to safety procedures.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of related maintenance experience, and a valid SC driver's license. Normal hours are 7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to use small office equipment.
• Ability to use or repair small and medium equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building and grounds maintenance including planting and maintaining flowers, trees and shrubs, as well as painting and preservation of buildings.
• Operate and maintain landscape equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other power tools.
• Load and unload equipment and supplies; assist with maintenance on equipment; perform minor repairs on landscape gear.
• Maintain open spaces, grounds, turf and related facilities; assist with event setup and general cleanup.
• Apply pesticides and herbicides per local, state and federal regulations.
• Assist with security, safety, and general duties; participate in staff meetings and emergencies.
