Job summary

Hernando County BOCC is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to perform skilled work maintaining county buildings, facilities and athletic fields. The role includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, groundskeeping, equipment operation and coordination with maintenance staff.

The position requires high school diploma and 5 years of related experience, valid Florida Driver’s License, and ability to obtain FEMA NIMS certifications within three months. Weekend overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years of experience in building, electrical, plumbing, construction, or related fields.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of residency.
  • Ability to obtain FEMA NIMS certifications (IS-100.c, IS-200.b, IS-700.b) within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain county buildings, facilities and athletic fields.
  • Perform carpentry, masonry, electrical and plumbing tasks.
  • Repair and maintain playground equipment, fences, and courts.
  • Construct and maintain fields for softball, baseball and soccer; manage grounds.
  • Operate equipment for lawn/turf maintenance and transport tools between sites.
  • Assist with custodial duties and work with maintenance staff.
