Job summary

Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Maintenance Worker II for full-time, on-site duties in Florida. The role involves hands-on upkeep of county buildings, grounds, and facilities, with responsibilities spanning plumbing, carpentry, electrical tasks, painting, and general repairs.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team, following county safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in building, facility, or grounds upkeep.
• Ability to operate common hand and power tools safely.
• Capable of working independently or as part of a crew.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on county buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Handle minor plumbing repairs, leaks, fixtures, and unclogging drains.
• Do light carpentry like doors, trim, shelving, cabinets, and fencing.
• Assist with electrical maintenance such as replacing fixtures, bulbs, switches.
• Paint, patch drywall, caulk, and perform other general building repairs.
• Support preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
• Move furniture, equipment, and materials as needed.
• Respond to maintenance requests from county departments.
