Job summary

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control seeks a Physical Plant Maintenance/Trades Mechanic III to maintain and repair state park buildings, grounds and equipment at Lums Pond State Park. You will perform routine and complex repairs to interior and exterior structures, HVAC systems, plumbing and safety devices.

The role may supervise seasonal staff, coordinate with contractors, and keep detailed maintenance records.

Qualifications

Six months experience in operating and maintaining equipment in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
Six months experience in work across plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
Six months experience in record keeping.
Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled).

Responsibilities

Performs preventative routine and complex maintenance on interior and exterior building structures, fixtures and equipment.
Renovates facilities and may design layouts to ensure efficient use of space.
Recommends referral of jobs beyond financial or capability limits to private contractors.
Maintains HVAC systems, pumps, plumbing projects and life safety devices.
May oversee the work of skilled maintenance and training personnel.
Maintains records of work performed, materials used and time spent.
May perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance.
