Job summary

DNREC seeks a Physical Plant Maintenance/Trades Technician to perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, plastering, welding and building maintenance at Killens Pond State Park. The role requires weekend and holiday work, and may involve inclement weather.

Responsibilities include maintenance on HVAC, electrical systems, and building structures, plus record-keeping and coordination with contractors when needed. A Delaware electrician license or equivalent is required, along with driving privileges.

Qualifications

• Delaware Electrician license or higher, or equivalent license from another state as approved by the Delaware Board.
• Six months experience in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Six months experience in record keeping.
• Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
• Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled).

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, routine and complex maintenance on interior and exterior building structures, fixtures and equipment; HVAC and other systems.
• Perform electrical work, modify electrical service and maintain electrical systems.
• Restore and renovate facilities, bridges and historical buildings; design layouts for efficient space use.
• Maintain records of work performed, materials used and time spent; refer jobs beyond limits to private contractors.
