Job summary

The Diocese of Austin seeks an Accountant for St. Vincent de Paul Parish to assist the Pastor, COO, directors, and Finance Council in interpreting financial results and overseeing parish finances.

Responsibilities include accounts payable/receivable, contributions, payroll, recordkeeping, and timely financial reporting under Diocesan procedures and federal/state laws. This position reports to the COO and requires independent judgment with a moderate latitude for initiative, supporting the parish

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent foreign degree).
• 3+ years wage-earning related work experience.
• 5+ years parish bookkeeping or accounting experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records for all transactions including AP/AR.
• Process invoices, reimbursements, and ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial reports.
• Manage payroll and ensure payroll taxes are paid on time.
• Ensure compliance with laws and Diocesan policies.
• Post parishioner contributions to the church database and prepare year-end statements.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and QuickBooks data entry.
• Prepare weekly stewardship report for the parish bulletin.
• Respond timely to diocesan information requests.
• All other duties as assigned.
