Job summary

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Parenting Aide to assist professional staff in the child welfare section.

The role includes transporting clients, supervising and facilitating parent–child visits, administering PBTs and drug screens, and handling routine administrative duties. The position supports family interactions, documents visits, and may provide court testimony about observations while ensuring client safety in various settings.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Car Seat Safety Certification within one month of hire.
• Nurturing Parenting Program Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling visits between children, siblings and parents.
• Provide supervised parenting time for parents with their children.
• Promote development of family relationships and routine at home.
• Supervise visitation in various settings.
• Transport and transition children and/or parents to visits and appointments.
• Maintain documentation of family interactions during visits or transportation.
• Provide feedback to the primary caseworker to assist with treatment planning.
• Provide court testimony about visit observations.
