Job summary

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Parenting Aide to support the Child Placement Services program.

You will transport clients, supervise visits, and assist staff with administrative tasks in a challenging child welfare setting. Responsibilities include scheduling visits, promoting healthy family relationships, documenting interactions, and administering PBTs and drug screens while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: One year working with children or families required.
  • Certification: Car Seat Safety Certification within 1 month of hire.
  • Certification: Nurturing Parenting Program Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability by Tribe Insurance Dept.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule visits between children, siblings and parents.
  • Provide supervised parenting time in a safe environment.
  • Transport and transition clients to visits and appointments.
  • Maintain documentation of family interactions during visits or transportation.
  • Administer Preliminary Breath Tests (PBTs) and drug screens as requested.
  • Complete monthly narrative and statistical reports.
  • Assist staff with maintaining case files and office tasks.
