Job summary

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Teacher Aide to support early childhood classroom operations under the supervision of the Program Manager and Education Supervisor.

Responsibilities include assisting instructors, following lesson plans, and maintaining child portfolios to aid individualized learning. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with children and preferably with special needs.
• Must obtain CDA within two years of hire and CPR/First Aid within one year.
• Background check and drug-free workplace policy compliance.
• Knowledge of early childhood education and cultural contexts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom operations and activity setup; work with groups of children.
• Support implementation of early childhood lessons following established plans.
• Instruct and assist children individually or in groups to reinforce learning.
• Record observations and maintain portfolios for individualized activities.
• Communicate daily with families about child activities and well‑being.
• Assist with emergency drills, hygiene practices, and daily care tasks.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; assist with bus duties when needed.
