Job summary

JusticeWorks YouthCare is hiring Parenting Education Specialists to work directly with families in Crawford County. You will provide practical parenting education, assess needs, and guide families toward greater independence in their homes and communities.

Join a dedicated team that supports parents and children, with opportunities for flexible hours, home visits, and collaboration with county professionals to reach meaningful outcomes for families in need.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable access to a personal vehicle.
  • Comfortable working in family homes and discussing parenting, family needs, and areas for improvement.
  • Willing to drive across Crawford County in various weather conditions.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Pass all applicable clearances.
  • Pass a pre-employment, post-offer drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Visit families in their homes and provide individualized support and education.
  • Assess family strengths, needs, and areas of concern.
  • Teach parents practical skills related to parenting, communication, child development, and family well-being.
  • Help parents develop strategies for a safe, healthy, and supportive home environment.

  • Transport clients as needed using a personal vehicle.

What You’ll Do

As a Parenting Education Specialist, you will:

  • Visit families in their homes and provide individualized support and education.
  • Assess family strengths, needs, and areas of concern.
  • Teach parents practical skills related to parenting, communication, child development, and family well-being.
  • Help parents develop strategies to create a safe, healthy, and supportive home environment.
  • Work collaboratively with county professionals and other service providers to support family goals.
  • Develop and implement appropriate interventions using evidence-based and best-practice approaches.
  • Help families work toward their goals and develop the skills necessary to function independently of formal services.
  • Connect families with appropriate community resources and support services.
  • Monitor family progress and communicate updates with county partners and JusticeWorks staff.
  • Transport clients when necessary using a personal vehicle.
  • Travel throughout Crawford County and be comfortable driving in a variety of weather and road conditions.

The ideal candidate is someone who is compassionate, dependable, comfortable working independently, and passionate about helping families succeed.

You must:

  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
