Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking a Parent Partner for the High Fidelity Wraparound program in Torrance, CA. You will mentor parents and caregivers, using your lived experience to help navigate child-serving systems and participate in weekly wraparound team meetings.

The role emphasizes empathy, advocacy, and collaboration with families, clinicians, and school partners. Requires Spanish-speaking ability, a valid CA driver’s license, and peer support certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Lived experience as the parent/caregiver of a youth who received services from child-serving systems.
  • PP II – SB803 Peer Support Specialist Certification required; must obtain PP I within one year of hire.
  • Valid California Driver's License and driving record meeting company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor parents and caregivers with guidance, empathy, and hope grounded in lived experience.
  • Be part of the Wraparound team, helping families prepare for meetings and build strong support networks.
  • Advocate for the parent/caregiver voice across all four Wraparound phases and ensure engagement in planning and services.

Starting Compensation: 20.52 - 22.03 USD Per Hour

Working Location: Torrance, CA

Working Hours/Shift: Mon - Fri: 40 hours, flexible schedule

What you bring to SBHG (Qualifications):
  • Education High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET, etc.) required.
  • Experience Lived experience as the parent or caregiver of a youth who received services from child-serving systems.
  • Licensure & Certification: PP II – SB803 - Peer Support Specialist Certification required PP I - SB803 - Peer Support Specialist Certification required within one (1) year of hire. Valid California Driver's License and maintenance of a driving record that meets the company driver eligibility policy.
  • Language Skills: Spanish Speaking Required.
How you will make a difference:

The Parent Partner is assigned to serve as a mentor to parents and caregivers offering guidance, empathy, and hope grounded in their own lived experiences. As a Wraparound team member, the Parent Partner builds trusting, peer-to-peer relationships with parents and caregivers, helping them navigate complex systems, prepare for team meetings, strengthen family bonds, and find sustainable support. Through weekly meetings and by participating in Wraparound team meetings and Child and Family Team meetings, the Parent Partner helps parents/caregivers build confidence, reframe challenges, and actively engage in each Wraparound phase. Their role is vital in ensuring that the parent/caregiver’s voice, values, and priorities are elevated across the four phases of Wraparound. The Parent Partner focuses on providing the parent/caregiver emotional support through shared experiences. The Parent Partner uses lived experience as a parent who has navigated child-serving systems such as child welfare, probation, behavioral or mental health, or special education to forge meaningful connections with parents and caregivers. Parent Partners are compassionate allies who provide validation, guidance, encouragement and support to parents and caregivers throughout the Wraparound process. Their own lived experience provides them with a unique lens from which to advocate, from a place of deep empathy and wisdom.

Division/Program Overview:
  • Programs: High Fidelity Wraparound services: Comprehensive Behavioral & Social Support Services , Crisis response, team-based approach

Population Served: Children, Youth, and Families battling trauma, mental illness, neglect, or substance abuse.

Facility & Setting: Multidisciplinary program sites serving SPA 1,2,3,4,6,7,8.

Clinical Services: Trauma-informed care, mental health treatment, behavioral interventions, and parental skill enhancement.

Length of Stay: Based on need, average stay is 18 months.

Skills & Transition: Strengths-based empowerment, resilience building, and long-term recovery/reintegration support.

Family support, skill development, advocacy, and comprehensive community resources.
