Job summary

Texas School for the Deaf in Austin is seeking a Parent Infant Program (PIP) Teacher Assistant to support SOC teachers and families. This 189-day, 40-hour-per-week role focuses on preparing materials and guiding activities for deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

You will assist with lesson planning, supervise students, collect data, and help with daily care, including mobility and sign language communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience with children ages 0-5.
• One year of experience with children preferably Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
• Sign language skills at ADVANCED level at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist SOC teachers with lesson planning and activity development.
• Prepare learning materials and center displays.
• Supervise students in teacher's absence and during activities.
• Assist with data collection, documentation and reporting.
• Support daily living activities and mobility for children.
• Contribute to behavior management and individualized instruction.
