The Department of Education of the City of New York is seeking a Parent Coordinator for M.S. X101 Edward R. Byrne.

You will engage with and involve parents in the school community, including those with limited English proficiency, working with the principal, school staff, leadership teams, parent associations, community groups and councils. Competenze

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
• Two years of experience in community work preferred.
• Associate's degree plus four years of experience acceptable.
• High school diploma plus six years of experience acceptable.
• Familiarity with NYC public schools and ability to engage diverse families.

• Increase parent involvement by coordinating with school and community organizations.
• Facilitate parent and school community concerns and issues, including policies and facilities.
• Conduct outreach to engage parents in their children's education.
• Convene regular parent meetings and events on topics important to parents.
• Attend parent meetings with the principal when appropriate.
• Assist in establishing by-laws and elections for parent associations following district rules.
• Serve as liaison to central and field-based parent support staff.
