West Boylston Public Schools' Major Edwards Elementary in West Boylston, MA, is seeking a Paraprofessional (ABA Technician) to support students with significant academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Qualifications

  • ABA knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and personal care support.
  • Implement interventions under the direction of the special education teacher and BCBA.
  • Utilize ABA principles to support student learning, independence, communication, and behavior.

Job Description

West Boylston Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly motivated Paraprofessional (ABA Technician) to support students with significant academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in working with students with autism, significant behavioral needs, and/or a history of trauma in a supportive special education environment.

Position Overview:

The Paraprofessional (ABA Technician) will work under the direction of a licensed special education teacher and the district BCBA. The successful candidate will provide individualized student support and assist in implementing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

The position requires an individual who is comfortable working with students who may demonstrate significant or challenging behaviors and who can remain calm, consistent, and supportive during periods of behavioral escalation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and personal care support
  • Implement academic and behavioral interventions under the direction of the special education teacher and BCBA
  • Utilize ABA principles and strategies to support student learning, independence, communication, and behavior
  • Support students individually and in small groups
  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and behavior management
  • Collect academic and behavioral data as directed
  • Follow individualized education programs (IEPs), behavior support plans, and safety/crisis intervention plans
  • Support students who may exhibit significant or challenging behaviors
  • Assist with personal care needs, including toileting and feeding, as required
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, BCBA, related service providers, and other members of the educational team
  • Participate in required training and ongoing professional development

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $18 to $22 Per Hour

Job Requirements
  • Qualifications:
    • Experience working with students with disabilities and/or significant behavioral needs
    • Experience working with students with autism is preferred
    • Experience working with students who have experienced trauma is preferred
    • Experience using or knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
    • Ability and willingness to assist with toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs
    • Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive when responding to challenging behaviors
    • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to consistently follow individualized academic and behavioral plans
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training is required and provided by the district
    • High school diploma and completion of the Paraprofessional Assessment OR
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college
  • Additional Requirements:
    • CORI and SAFIS background clearance required
  • Compensation:
    • Hourly Rate: Based on applicable district salary schedule and experience
    • Additional Annual Stipend: $2,500.00
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
