Job summary

Supplemental Health Care, Inc. is seeking a Paraprofessional in Newark, Delaware to support classroom teachers and help create a well-organized learning environment for students in need of assistance.

Responsibilities include assisting with instructional activities, managing groups by grade level, and helping with materials, displays, and classroom routines under the direction of a certified teacher. We offer comprehensive benefits and professional support to our school professionals.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent AND either a Passing Score on the ETS ParaPro Exam OR an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or at least two years of study (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours) at an accredited college.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children
• Prior experience working with children with special needs, physical/mental disabilities, or behavior management
• Proficient in the use of standard computer applications
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with existing staff

• Assist the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment.
• Participate in the instructional program under the direction of a certified teacher.
• Work with groups of children based on grade level
• Work with children in learning centers and assist in the preparation and care of learning materials
• Assist in preparing classroom displays and bulletin boards
• Communicates relevant information regarding student’s behavior with parents
• Assist students with feeding, diapering, or toileting and charts time
• Care for classroom equipment and materials and may operate audio-visual equipment
• Assist with lunch, snack, and clean-up routine and assist children with clothing management based on grade level
• Participate in In-service training programs as required
• Assist certified teacher with classroom activities as directed
• Prepare training aids for the classroom as required
• Work with children with special needs

Qualifications:

The Special Education Teacher Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students may take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources.

• $22.50 - $24.25 per hour*
