Job summary

Lakewood City Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for the Special Education BRIDGES self-contained unit for the 2026-2027 school year. Position is within six hours and 30 minutes per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Education aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education is required or obtainable, and ESSA guidelines must be met. Responsibilities include supporting students, assisting in activities, and reporting to the principal or designee.

Qualifications

• Must have or obtain an education aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education.
• Have earned at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours from an Institution of Higher Education.
• Hold at least an Associate's Degree.
• Successfully completed the ODE State Mandated Para Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in the BRIDGES self-contained unit under supervision.
• Support daily instructional activities and behavior management.
• Follow ESSA requirements and report to building principal.
• Assist with health-related procedures as trained where applicable.

Garfield Middle School, BRIDGES self-contained unit, 2026-2027 school year; not to exceed six hours and 30 minutes per day (6.5 hours) with 30 minutes unpaid lunch; must have or obtain an education aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education and meet the guidelines of Every Student Succeeds Act; responsible to building principal and/or designee.

To Meet ESSA Requirements

• Have earned at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours from an Institution of Higher Education.
• Hold at least an Associate's Degree.
• Successfully completed the ODE State Mandated Para Assessment.

Paraprofessionals may be required to perform various medical and/or health-related procedures, including lifting, toileting, and feeding, as part of their job duties. In situations where invasive medical procedures are required, specific training will be provided.
