Job summary

Lorain City Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for the district. The role is governed by OAPSE 120 and reports to building administrators or the Executive Director for the Office of Exceptional Children.

The position follows the 6.75 hour workday over 189 days per year with an hourly rate of $18.75 for the 2026/27 school year.

Qualifications

• Must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under ESSA and ORC 3319.074.
• AND must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
• ParaPro Assessment results acceptable with 456+ score (transcripts required).

Monday - Friday; 6.75 hours/day; 189 days per year (# of workdays for new-hires are pro-rated to date-of-hire)

Hourly Rate:

$18.75 per hour (2026/27 school year payrate)

Required Certification(s)

• must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under the provisions of ESSA and ORC 3319.074 by evidencing one of the following requirements:
• Associate of Arts Degree or higher (official transcripts required); OR
• two years of college totaling 48 or more semester hours (official transcripts required); OR
• passing score of 456 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (copy of ParaPro Assessment results).
• AND must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio Department of Education
