10-Month Position

JOB GOAL: To help meet the physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. Assist with the implementation of students' Individual Education Plans (IEP), including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs.

Works under the direct supervision and direction of the classroom teacher to assist the student with disabilities one-to-one in the classroomto achieve needed skills and requirements for succeeding in school; and to provide supplemental and clerical services to assist the classroom teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Paraprofessionals must complete at least two years (60 credits) from an accredited college or pass the ParaPro Assessment offered by ETS.
• Previous experience working with students in a classroom setting preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices and demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities.
• Exhibits excellent integrity and demonstrates good moral character and initiative.
• Displays a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
• Effectively communicates and understands job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
