Job summary

UCP of Central Florida seeks a paraprofessional to provide instructional support in a K-12 classroom with and without disabilities. The role also leads the classroom in the teacher’s absence and partners with staff to implement lessons and behavior strategies.

You will assist with assessments, collect progress data, support instructional technology use, and help maintain a clean, organized classroom while engaging positively with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a K-12 classroom.
  • Experience with children with and without special needs in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Experience using instructional technology is preferred.
  • Associate degree or higher required as stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instructional support in a K-12 classroom per teacher direction.
  • Leads classroom in teacher's absence.
  • Implements lesson plans and prepares instructional materials.
  • Assists with assessments and progress monitoring.
  • Documents academic progress and behavior data.
  • Maintains classroom cleanliness and supports housekeeping duties.

The paraprofessional also leads the classroom in the event of a teacher absence.Job Responsibilities:Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.Perform teacher duties in his/her absence.Keep up on best and promising practices for education (i.e., attending professional development, participating in book studies, etc.)Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed (i.e., changing of students, keeping classroom clean)Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.Attend required trainings, meetings and events.Ensure administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.Perform other duties as assigned.What UCP OffersOur mission at UCP is to empower children with and without disabilities to achieve their potential by providing individualized support, education and therapy services in an inclusive environment.
