Job summary

Orchard Farm School District in Missouri seeks a paraprofessional to join Orchard Farm Middle School. The role provides social, physical and academic support in general and special education settings, including supervision in cafeteria, classrooms, and during assemblies.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 60 college credits or DESE 20-hour substitute certification, and preferred Missouri substitute certification. Emphasis on reliability and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social, physical, and academic support and supervision in general and special education settings.
  • Assist with ambulatory, eating and toileting needs as applicable.
  • Assist students with disabilities according to individualized needs.
  • Help manage student behavior and keep the teacher informed of needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about children and families.
  • Participate in staff development and attend meetings and events when requested.
  • Assist with arrival/departure and supervise students in multiple settings.
  • Follow instructions from teachers and administrators.

Job description

Orchard Farm Middle School is seeking a paraprofessional to join our team!

Our district mission is to empower each learner to excel in diverse communities. Orchard Farm School District is located in St. Charles, MO with a current enrollment of approximately 2,600 students and growing. Over the last decade, new developments like Charlestowne and New Town, situated along Highway 370, have contributed significantly to our increase in enrollment. Paraprofessionals provides social, physical, and academic support and/or supervision in general and special education settings, including but not limited to, the cafeteria, classrooms, recess, and assemblies. These services may include ambulatory, eating and toileting assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An individual who holds this position is required to:
  • Assist students with disabilities according to their individualized needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning
  • Assist students with physical care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
  • Assist in managing the behavior of students
  • Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events when requested by administration
  • Help supervise arrival and departure of students, and provide supervision and support in multiple settings throughout the school day
  • Follow instructions from teachers and administrators

The position is in a regular school setting that is noisy and active. Occasional outdoor activities are required such as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
