Job summary

Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) is seeking a Paraprofessional to support blind/low‑vision students under an Instructor for the Blind/Low Vision. Located in Salt Lake City, this on‑site, part‑time role runs nine months per school year.

You will prepare materials, assist with lessons, monitor progress, and support behavior management and daily routines for students with disabilities. This position requires flexibility and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness to work with students with disabilities and to be flexible.

Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor.
• Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor.
• Perform duties related to motivation and achievement of students in academics and skills areas.
• Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor.
• Assist with routine daily activities (bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom).
• Provide classroom support by working with teachers and students.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Design and prepare training materials, teaching aids and devices.
