Job summary

Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) in Salt Lake City seeks a caring Paraprofessional to support blind/low vision students under an Instructor for the Blind/Low Vision. This part-time, nine-month position is located on-site and involves classroom support, materials prep, and daily student assistance.

You will collaborate with teachers, monitor student progress, and help implement behavior interventions while maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of classroom techniques and organization.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities.

• Flexible in work tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor
• Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor
• Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas
• Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor
• Assist with routine daily activities, i.e. bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom (may include diapering), etc.
• Provides support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.
• Maintains accurate records and logs.
• Designs and/or prepares training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices.
