Job summary

Pueblo School District No. 60 is seeking a Paraprofessional to support certified teachers in delivering instruction to students with disabilities.

The role involves assisting with IEP goals, daily classroom activities, and health-related tasks under supervision, with emphasis on safety and student progress. Qualifications include a high school diploma, ESSA eligibility, CPR/First-Aid and CPI training within specified timelines, and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to meet Highly Qualified Status under ESSA (Pass Work Keys or Praxis, or 48 semester hours, or an Associate's degree).
• Reliable transportation.
• Must obtain CPR and First-Aid Certification within 3 months of employment.
• Must obtain CPI training certification within 6 months of employment.
• Able to pass District lift test after offer.
• Background check clearance by Office of Human Resources.
• Must communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to students (Pre-k through Young Adult) in an assigned classroom or program.
• Assist students with disabilities to meet goals and objectives in their IEP.
• Communicate with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP goals.
• Implement class-wide and individual behavior strategies to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Assist with lesson plans and reinforce instruction to help students reach academic goals.
• Assist with lifting, toileting, diapering, dressing and other activities for personal hygiene.
• Assist in mobilization of students using medical equipment and wheelchairs as needed.
• Operate medical, orthopedic, exercise and instructional equipment.
• Observe and assist during emergencies per CPI procedures and report progress.
• Provide basic first aid and health care as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and participate in trainings.
