Job summary

Scoot Education is recruiting support staff to work with students with special needs in 1:1 or small-group settings. You’ll build rapport, ensure a safe learning environment, and assist lead educators as needed.

Ideal candidates have multiple higher-education credits or degrees, CBEST where applicable, and complete background checks. Prior experience in K-12 and special education contexts is a plus.

Qualifications

  • State and federal background checks completed and TB risk assessment or test.
  • Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor.
  • Educational credentials and certifications as required for teaching support roles.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings.
  • Build rapport and trust with the children in your care.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Take direction from lead educators and assist when needed.
  • Some roles include assisting various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom.
  • Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings.

Job description

Get support from your dedicated Scoot Education Consultant who matches you to school assignments to align with your skills, experiences, and interests. Access 1:1 check-ins to discuss school feedback, general questions, training opportunities, and career planning.

Many of our consultants have previous teaching experience and will share best practices and offer practical advice. They are just a phone call away for any questions or concerns.

Daily Pay Range:

$22 - $27/hr

Pay will vary for day-to-day assignments and is typically more for long-term placements. Pay varies by certification, school, and assignment.

Role Requirements:
  • Passion for education and putting students first

You’ll stand out if you have:
  • Worked with children who have Special Education needs
  • Spent time in Special Education settings
  • Any Special Education specific training
  • ABA experience (Applied Behavior Analysis)
  • Experience working in K-12 schools
  • Experience with assisting in various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom
What you’ll do:

  • Comfortable working with medically fragile/high behavior situations
  • Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
  • Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings
  • Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process
