Job summary

Scoot Education in Los Angeles is seeking compassionate educators to support students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings. You’ll build rapport, foster a safe learning environment, and assist lead teachers while adapting to individual plans.

We offer daily pay of $22–$27 per hour, paid training, weekly direct deposit, and a W-2 arrangement with eligibility for 401k after meeting requirements. Background checks are reimbursed.

Qualifications

• Requires 48 college credits or higher, CBEST considered.
• State & federal background checks required; TB risk assessment/test.
• Three professional references, including a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with special needs in 1:1 or small groups.
• Foster rapport and a safe, nurturing learning environment.
• Take direction from lead educators and assist as needed.
• Assist in a range of needs, including challenging behaviors in the classroom.
• Observe and communicate across indoor/outdoor environments.

Job description

Get support from your dedicated Scoot Education Consultant who matches you to school assignments to align with your skills, experiences, and interests. Access 1:1 check-ins to discuss school feedback, general questions, training opportunities, and career planning.

Many of our consultants have previous teaching experience and will share best practices and offer practical advice. They are just a phone call away for any questions or concerns.

Daily Pay Range:

$22 - $27/hr

Pay will vary for day-to-day assignments and is typically more for long-term placements. Pay varies by certification, school, and assignment.

Role Requirements:

• Passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
• 48 College credits, Associate's Degree, Bachelors Degree or CBEST
• Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor
• State & federal background checks
  TB risk assessment or test

You’ll stand out if you have:

• Worked with children who have Special Education needs
• Spent time in Special Education settings
• Any Special Education specific training
• ABA experience (Applied Behavior Analysis)
• Experience working in K-12 schools
• Experience with assisting in various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings
• Build rapport and trust with the children in your care
• Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
• Take direction from lead educators and assist when needed
• Some roles include assisting various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom
• Comfortable working with medically fragile/high behavior situations
• Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
• Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings
• Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process
