Job summary

Global Educational Excellence (GEE) is seeking a Paraprofessional to support classroom instruction and student supervision under a certified teacher. The role contributes to a structured, safe, and productive learning environment in Southeast Michigan charter schools.

Responsibilities include tutoring, behavior management, prep work, and bilingual support as needed. Candidates should meet Michigan Paraprofessional Standards and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 60 semester credit hours or an associate degree or higher.
• Passing score on ParaPro/SAT or Michigan exams as applicable.
• Satisfactory criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instruction and managing routines.
• Provide individual or small-group tutoring and academic support under teacher direction.
• Support student behavior management in classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during transitions.
• Assist with classroom preparation, materials, and field trip coordination.
• Support bilingual communication and translation for students and families as applicable.
• Attend staff meetings and required professional development sessions.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Paraprofessional supports classroom instruction and student supervision under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, contributing to a structured, safe, and productive learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet one of the following educational requirements under the Michigan Paraprofessional Standards (ESEA Title I):

• Completion of at least 60 semester credit hours at an accredited college or university, OR
• Associate's degree or higher, OR
• Passing score on an approved formal academic assessment (ETS ParaPro Assessment minimum 460; SAT 480+ EBRW and 530+ Math; or Michigan Basic Skills Exam)
• Satisfactory criminal background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Work environment includes elevated noise levels.
