Job summary

Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah invites applications for a full-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice or tenure-track Assistant Professor of Paramedicine.

The Paramedic Program prepares students for pre-hospital emergency care careers in EMS, fire, search and rescue, law enforcement, and volunteering. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, accreditation readiness, and collaboration with partner institutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an educational or healthcare field required for professional-track.
• Master’s degree in an educational or healthcare field required for tenure-track.
• Currently certified Utah Paramedic.
• Certified as Utah EMS Course Coordinator or eligible within six months.
• Utah EMS Instructor Endorsement, ACLS Instructor, CPR Instructor and PALS Instructor certs or eligible within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in paramedicine, including teaching.
• Experience in pre-hospital care and EMS education.
• Successful teaching experience in emergency medicine/ emergency response field.
• Ability to develop innovative curricula and use computer-based technology in education.
• Knowledge of state and national EMS regulations and CoAEMSP standards.
• Proven leadership and management skills including budgeting and faculty evaluation.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide Paramedic course instruction and clinical supervision.
• Assist in curriculum development and course design.
• Ensure the program meets CoAEMSP accreditation requirements.
• Assist in recruitment and training of program faculty and staff.
• Monitor student progress and provide remediation as needed.
• Collaborate with educational institutions, healthcare providers, and industry partners.
• Collaborate with UT programs to implement interprofessional experiences.
• Establish and maintain regulatory relationships and prepare for accreditation site visits.
• Ensure program evaluations and assessments are completed regularly.
• Maintain accurate student records and confidentiality.
• Participate in community outreach and marketing to promote enrollment.
• Develop employer relations to meet local job market needs.
• Liaise with community EMS professionals and advisory committees; assist in contracts.
• Ensure OSHA infection control compliance within program.
• Assist with recruitment, advisement, placement and follow-up.
• Improve professionally and maintain currency in EMS education.
• Perform campus-wide duties and attend meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
