Job summary

Utah Tech University is seeking a full-time Paramedicine faculty member for the Department of Health Care Diagnostics and Therapeutics in St. George, UT.

The position offers Instructor of the Practice or Assistant Professor tenure-track, with Spring 2027 start and a teaching-oriented, clinically integrated program. Responsibilities include instruction, curriculum development, accreditation compliance, student support, and outreach to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required for professional-track, Instructor of the Practice.
• Master's degree required for tenure-track, Assistant Professor.
• Must be currently certified Utah Paramedic.
• Must be certified as Utah EMS Course Coordinator or eligible within six months.
• Must have Utah EMS Instructor Endorsement, ACLS, CPR, and PALS Instructor Certifications or eligible within 90 days.
• Minimum of five years of paramedicine experience, including teaching.
• Experience in pre-hospital care or supervision of pre-hospital care.
• Successful teaching experience in emergency medicine/response.
• Ability to develop innovative curricula and current EMS education trends.
• Knowledge of state/national regulations and CoAEMSP standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide Paramedic instruction and clinical supervision.
• Assist in curriculum development and course design.
• Ensure compliance with CoAEMSP accreditation requirements.
• Recruit and train program faculty and staff.
• Monitor student progress and facilitate remediation.
• Collaborate with institutions, providers, and industry partners.
• Implement interprofessional experiences across programs.
• Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies.
• Prepare for CoAEMSP site visits and implement changes as directed.
• Maintain confidential student records and support enrollment efforts.
• Engage in community outreach and program marketing.
• Develop relationships with employers to meet local job market needs.
• Liaise with EMS professionals and advisory committees; assist contract development.
• Ensure OSHA infection control standards are met.
• Assist with recruitment, advisement, placement, and follow-up.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and currency in EMS.
• Perform campus duties, hold office hours, attend meetings per policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
