Job Overview

Rutherford Regional Health System, a 143-bed acute care facility, is seeking a Paramedic to assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Room. This role involves collaborating with medical staff, performing emergency procedures, and ensuring equipment and supplies are maintained.

Essential Functions

1. Assess patient condition and history.
2. Administer emergency medical care, including stabilization and resuscitation.
3. Collaborate with medical personnel, document observations, and follow directives.
4. Maintain equipment, restock supplies, and ensure cleanliness.
5. Recognize critical presentations such as stroke or chest pain.
6. Perform IV starts, blood and specimen collection.
7. Address patient and family needs, reassess patients regularly, and document responses.
8. Assist with patient re-evaluations under supervision.
9. Perform diagnostic procedures and monitor patient condition.
10. Maintain medical supplies and equipment, including troubleshooting.
11. Perform administrative duties like filing, scheduling, and data entry.
12. Assist with post-mortem care and handle patient valuables securely.
13. Document allergies appropriately.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Vocational/Technical Diploma.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work independently in stressful environments.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Handle with Care (within 3 months).
• License: NC-EMT-Paramedic.
• Preferred 1-3 years of experience.
