Job summary

Baptist Health Louisville is seeking a weekend-only Paramedic to join our Transport EMS team. This part-time position requires 24 hours per week, covering weekend shifts. Responsibilities include providing ALS patient care, ambulance transport, and coordination of resources. Must hold Kentucky Paramedic license, BLS, PALS/ACLS, and valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must hold Kentucky paramedic license at time of consideration.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS Healthcare Provider CPR is required.
• PALS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Other Kentucky Board of EMS certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within director-approved protocols and state scope of practice.
• Recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Thoroughly complete all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.
• Provide care appropriate to the emergency population and maintain the environment of care.
• Perform ambulance transportation services within the paramedic scope of practice.
• Set priorities for transport of multiple patients.
• Coordinate resources and plans of delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of fleet vehicles to operate safely.
• Ensure ambulance is clean, stocked, and ready for service at start/end of shifts.
• Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and ALS gear readiness.

Summary

Provides advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician's assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS medical protocols if transporting a patient. Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.
• Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.
• Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.
• Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
• Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.
• Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.
• Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.
• Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.
• Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.
• Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS at time of consideration.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC.
• PALS & ACLS certifications.
• Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Valid driver's license.
