Job summary

Baptist Health in Louisville is seeking a Paramedic to join our Transport EMS team on a part-time basis (24 hours per week). This role supports advanced life support services and patient transport under medical direction, with a strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and timely response.

The ideal candidate will hold an active Kentucky Paramedic license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and meet state EMS requirements while maintaining vehicle readiness and interdepartmental coordination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS at time of consideration.
• BLS certification is required.
• ACLS certification issued by AHA or ARC is required.
• Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.
• Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.
• Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.
• Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
• Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.
• Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.
• Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.
• Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.
• Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.
• Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.

Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician's assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS medical protocols if transporting a patient.
