The Opportunity
Responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. Administers and supervises approved immunizations other than red blood cell immunizations. Provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication or treatment administration in accordance with licensure or certification.

The Role
- Promotes positive customer relations with all donors.
- Conducts confidential and effective interviews with donors to assess their suitability for plasma donation.
- Collaborates with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician to address medically related questions from staff, including donor suitability, and provides information on medical issues.
- Performs medical history reviews and health assessments on donors. Reviews results of donor screening and laboratory tests to determine initial and ongoing donor suitability.
- Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results. Refers donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
- Explains informed consent to applicants, including procedures, hazards, potential adverse events, immunization schedules, doses, and antibody responses; ensures donors understand and voluntarily consent.
- Handles medical emergencies at the Center by providing routine care as per SOPs; escalates situations to the Center Physician or local medical providers as needed. Checks emergency kits periodically for supplies and expiration dates.
- Reviews test results to determine continued donor eligibility, following SOPs regarding acceptable ranges of required tests and approvals.
- Assesses signs and symptoms that may disqualify a donor from continuing donation.
- Understands policies related to hyper immune programs and oversees donor immunization programs where applicable, reviewing antibody titers and maintaining immunization schedules.
- Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic management system as per SOPs.
- Maintains a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient supplies and adherence to HSE and OSHA policies. Promotes safety and conducts routine audits.
- Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
(NON-EXEMPT) The expected base pay is $25.45/hour - $33.10/hour for LPN; $32.30/hour - $42.00/hour for RN. Actual pay depends on qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
- Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.
- If graduated from a foreign medical school, must be licensed or certified as an emergency medical technician.
Experience
- At least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience in a plasma or blood collection center or similar regulated environment preferred.
- Ability to perform and analyze physical assessments, including heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use.
- Ability to instruct donors, staff, and community about plasma donation benefits.
