Job description

Join to apply for the Paramedic OR Nurse - LPN, LVN or RN role at CSL.

The Opportunity

Responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures, administering and supervising approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations), and providing limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.

You will report to the Center Manager.

The Role

1. Promote positive customer relations with all donors.
2. Conduct confidential interviews to assess donor suitability.
3. Respond to medically related questions with the Center Medical Director or Physician.
4. Perform medical history reviews, health assessments, and analyze laboratory results.
5. Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up.
6. Explain informed consent, including procedures, hazards, and rights.
7. Handle medical emergencies following SOPs and check emergency kits regularly.
8. Review test results to determine continued donor suitability, adhering to SOPs.
9. Assess signs and symptoms that may affect donation ability.
10. Oversee donor immunization programs and review antibody titer results.
11. Accurately record donor data in the electronic system.
12. Maintain a clean work environment, ensure supplies are available, and follow safety policies.
13. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
14. May be cross-trained in other areas and bilingual skills may be required.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Skills And Experience

Education

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic program.
• Foreign medical graduates must be licensed or certified accordingly.

Experience

• At least one year in a healthcare environment.
• Experience in plasma or blood collection preferred.
• Ability to perform physical assessments and instruct donors and staff.

Working Conditions

• Ability to make decisions affecting the work unit.
• Ability to follow instructions and observe safety protocols.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform assessments.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
• Willingness to work overtime and extended hours.
