Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks experienced paramedics to deliver emergency medical care in the prehospital setting. Two positions are available to join a responsive EMS team, requiring strong communication across departments and adherence to regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes driving, life support, documentation, equipment maintenance, and ensuring medication readiness on each EMS unit. Licensure as a PA Paramedic or EMS Compact Privilege is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• For Prehospital Response Unit: 5 years’ relevant experience and current preceptor status
• Medical Command eligible
• PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRN

Responsibilities

• Drives emergency or response vehicle
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic and advanced life support to the critically ill and injured during treatment and transport in the prehospital setting
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards
• Performs other duties as assigned or required

Education

There are (2) positions available

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the Prehospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of Emergency Medical Care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drives emergency or response vehicle. (20%)
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic and advanced life support to the critically ill and injured during treatment and transport in the prehospital setting. (50%)
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• For Prehospital Response Unit: 5 years’ relevant experience and current preceptor status
• Medical Command eligible
• PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRN

Preferred

• Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Haz-Mat Technician. ISC 100, 200 and IS 700, 800, ABLS and ASLS
• One year experience (AHN EMS)

• Valid Driver's License
• EMSVO within 30 days of hire
• ACLS within 30 days of hire
• ITLS/PHTLS within 2 months of hire
• PALS within 30 days of hire
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
