Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Paramedic for emergency prehospital care in Pennsylvania. The role involves driving an emergency vehicle, assessing illness or injury, and delivering life support during treatment and transport.

The position requires PA paramedic licensure or EMS Compact privilege, medical command eligibility, and a High school diploma or GED. Experience in AHN EMS is preferred and compliance with HIPAA and safety policies is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• For Prehospital Response Unit: 5 years' relevant experience and current preceptor status
• Medical Command eligible; PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRN

Responsibilities

• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic and advanced life support to the critically ill and injured during treatment and transport in the prehospital setting.
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the Prehospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of Emergency Medical Care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drives emergency or response vehicle. (20%)
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic and advanced life support to the critically ill and injured during treatment and transport in the prehospital setting. (50%)
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• For Prehospital Response Unit: 5 years' relevant experience and current preceptor status
• Medical Command eligible
• PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRN

Preferred

• Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Haz-Mat Technician. IC S 100, 200 and IS 700, 800, ABLS and ASLS
• One year experience (AHN EMS)

• ACL S within 30 days of hire
• ITLS/PHTLS within 2 months of hire
• PALS within 30 days of hire
• CPR - American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
