Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an EMS Paramedic to provide emergency medical care in the prehospital environment and communicate effectively with all departments involved in EMS operations. The role emphasizes life support, documentation, and equipment maintenance across EMS units.

Qualified candidates will have a PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege, HV/ALS capabilities, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in PA at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRN.
  • ICS 100, 200 and IS 700, 800, ABLS and ASLS.

Job Description

Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the Prehospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of Emergency Medical Care.



Essential Responsibilities


  • Drive emergency or response vehicle. (20%)

  • Determine nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic and advanced life support to the critically ill and injured during treatment and transport in the prehospital setting. (50%)

  • Complete required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)

  • Maintain equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and have accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.



Qualifications


  • Minimum High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • For Prehospital Response Unit: 5 years’ relevant experience and current preceptor status.

  • Medical Command eligible PA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRN.

  • Preferred Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Haz-Mat Technician.

  • ICS 100, 200 and IS 700, 800, ABLS and ASLS.

  • One year experience (AHN EMS).



Additional Employment Requirements


  • Valid Driver's License EMSVO within 30 days of hire.

  • ACLS within 30 days of hire.

  • ITLS/PHTLS within 2 months of hire.

  • PALS within 30 days of hire.

  • CPR – American Heart Association.

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
