Job summary

The role requires active EMS experience, valid driver’s license, and current paramedic certification with ACLS, PALS, and NRP as well as BLS/First Aid.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' EMS experience (required)
• Driver's License Upon Hire (required)
• National Paramedic Upon Hire (required)
• Paramedic Iowa Dept of Public Health (IDPH) Upon Hire (required)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association Upon Hire (required)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association within 30 Days (required)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association within 1 Year (required)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program - American Academy of Pediatrics within 1-1/2 Years (required)

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced emergency medical treatment and transport sick or injured persons.
• Administer drugs by all available routes under physician direction.
• Assess nature and extent of illness or injury to prioritize procedures.
• Maintain certification and participate in training programs.
• Communicate with treatment centers and dispatch to coordinate care.
• Operate EKGs, defibrillators, and life-support equipment.
• Observe and report patient status and responses to treatment.
• Decontaminate ambulance and maintain equipment after transport.
