Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Iowa Paramedic certification required.
• BLS certification or obtain within 3 months.
• ACLS certification or obtain within 3 months.
• PALS training required within 3 months.
• Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months.
• Must be at least 18 years old with valid driver’s license.
• Emergency Vehicle Operations training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients with a variety of medical conditions or injuries.
• Prepares patient care reports with 24 hours of completing the ambulance trip.
• Triages, prioritizes, and anticipates patients' needs. Develops a plan of care.
• Provides ongoing evaluation, altering the plan of care as indicated. Documents findings and interventions.
• Implements interventions consistent with protocols documenting response to treatment.
