Job summary

Suffolk Fire & Rescue is seeking a Paramedic to deliver advanced prehospital medical care as the lead attendant in charge of an ambulance in Suffolk, VA. The role includes responding to a variety of emergencies, providing ACLS-level interventions, and coordinating with receiving facilities.

You will drive/operate EMS vehicles, maintain equipment, perform patient assessments, and complete required documentation. Must maintain certifications and drive safely under pressure.

Qualifications

• Virginia or National Registry Paramedic certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred within 90 days: TEMS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, EVOC.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency medical calls and provide advanced life support.
• Maintain readiness and inspect equipment and supplies at the medic unit and station.
• Operate and monitor Class 2 emergency vehicles; determine optimal routes and drive safely.
• Perform medical assessments and interventions per protocols; stabilize patients and document care.
• Maintain records and communicate with medical facilities, dispatchers and allied agencies.
