Job summary

City of Suffolk seeks a Paramedic to provide advanced prehospital medical care as the attendant in charge of an ambulance. The role includes ALS, operating equipment, and training in EMS methods.

Responsibilities also include inspecting equipment, maintaining the medic unit and fire station, and completing required reports. Qualified candidates will be certified as Paramedics by the Commonwealth of Virginia or NREMT, with CPR and preferred ACLS/PALS; TEMS release is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as Paramedic by Virginia or NREMT
• CPR certification required
• PALS/PEPP and ACLS preferred
• Hazardous Materials Awareness preferred

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency medical calls and operate EMS apparatus
• Administer life support and stabilize patients at scenes
• Maintain equipment, station, and records
• Communicate with medical personnel and coordinate patient transfer
