Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Paramedic to join Rampart EMS (Escanaba) on a part-time/PRN basis with 12-hour varied shifts. The role focuses on emergency patient care, scene stabilization, and rapid transport to medical facilities.

A MDHHS approved Paramedic course and Michigan license are required, with BLS-HCP and ACLS, and PALS/ITLS/PHTLS/NRP preferred. The candidate should maintain equipment, restock supplies, and ensure readiness of ambulance while working under supervision.

Qualifications

• Paramedic readiness: MDHHS approved Paramedic course completed and MI license.
• Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Valid Michigan driver's license. BLS-HCP and ACLS required; PALS/ITLS/PHTLS/NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency medical calls and provide patient care as directed.
• Safely navigate ambulance to patient location and stabilize scene, requesting additional support as needed.
• Assess nature and extent of illness or injury and gather patient history from available sources.
• Administer emergency care, including stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation from scene to facility.
• Report observations to medical personnel and follow directives from supervisor.
• Maintain ambulance, restock supplies, and keep equipment ready for use.

How You'll Contribute

A Paramedic who excels in this role:

• Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
• Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
• Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.

What We're Looking For

A Paramedic must Successfully complete MDHHS approved Paramedic course and have a Paramedic License in the state or Michigan. Additional requirements include:

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Valid Michigan driver's license
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
• Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS) (Preferred)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (Preferred)
• Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent (preferred)
• 6 months field experience in EMS (Preferred)
