Qualifications

• MDHHS approved EMT course completion is required.
• Michigan driver's license is required.
• BLS Health Care Provider certification is required.
• PEARS, ITLS or PHTLS, NRP are preferred.
• CEVO or VFIS Driver Training or equivalent preferred.
• 6 months EMS field experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely navigates ambulance to patient location and stabilizes scene.
• Assesses illness/injury and determines patient history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care and stabilizes patient from scene to facility.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports observations, and follows directives from supervising clinicians.
• Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulances.

How You'll Contribute

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who excels in this role will:

• Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
• Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulances as necessary.

What We're Looking For

An applicant who has successfully completed MDHHS approved EMT course and has a valid Michigan driver's license.

Additional Requirements Include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) (Preferred)
• Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS) (Preferred)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (Preferred)
• Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent (preferred)
• 6 months field experience in EMS (preferred)
