Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Paramedic to join the healthcare team, establishing an authentic relationship with the patient and support system while collaborating with RN and physician-led staff to provide care within current policies and procedures. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years for ED/CCT (3 years for Event Medicine), and Paramedic Certification or Degree with National Registry or plan to obtain within 18 months.

A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Must assess and interpret information to determine patient care needs by age and health status.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to prioritize tasks as patient acuity changes.

Responsibilities

• Administer and evaluate medication therapies.
• Perform patient transfers and transport patients by wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher.

The Paramedic accepts accountability for provision of care, as part of the RN and physician led team, in accordance with the current policies, protocols and procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: 2 years required for ED and CCT, required. 3 years required for Event Medicine, required.
• Licensure/Certification: Paramedic Certification or Degree, required. National Registry for Critical Care Transport or an educational agreement to obtain National Registry within 18 months of hire, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments, required. Current driver\'s license in appropriate state for Critical Care Transport Departments, required.
• Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Must have ability to assess and/or interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age, as well as health and developmental needs. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written documentation. Excellent customer service skills. Possesses the ability to prioritize job duties according to patients\' needs and changing acuity levels. Administer and evaluate medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transport patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments. Ability to lift and carry various equipment including portable cardiac monitors, etc. Ability to provide routine care such as start IV\'s, perform dressing changes, etc. to patients in a timely manner. Ability to perform in critical situations, including administering CPR.
