Job summary

NW Natural is hiring a Paralegal to support the General Counsel and Legal Team across litigation, regulatory, corporate and compliance matters. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and proactive legal support in a dynamic utility environment.

The position requires a strong paralegal background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid Portland-based setting. Relocation within commuting distance is considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years paralegal experience for Level 2; more for Level 3.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint for electronic document management.

Responsibilities

• Provide paralegal support to attorneys across diverse legal areas including litigation, environmental, labor and employment, corporate, regulatory, securities, finance, disclosure, shareholder services and compliance.
• Coordinate information gathering with attorneys, business units and outside counsel to support timely resolution of legal matters.
• Coordinate document collection, review, discovery, subpoenas, filings and maintain organized records.
• Draft, prepare and maintain legal documents, NDAs, reports, summaries, correspondence and regulatory filings using approved templates.
• Conduct legal, regulatory, legislative and industry research and prepare summaries and analyses for attorneys and business partners.
• Monitor project timelines, regulatory filings, license renewals, annual reports, litigation deadlines and other obligations.
• Assist with litigation support activities including case file management, discovery responses, chronologies and exhibits.
• Serve as liaison between Legal Department and business partners to ensure clear communication and timely updates.
• Cross-train to provide coverage for Shareholder Services Manager and Corporate Paralegal.
• Adapt to varying assignments and priorities while providing responsive support across attorneys and business functions.
• Perform special assignments or projects as needed.
