Job summary

United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee in Colorado Springs seeks a Paralegal, IP, to support trademark and copyright matters for Team USA. You will draft letters, conduct IP research, manage filings, and assist attorneys with agreements and disputes, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certification or equivalent experience in IP law.
• 3+ years' legal experience in intellectual property, especially trademarks.
• Experience with IP filings, drafting agreements, and research.

Responsibilities

• Investigate IP infringement and draft letters to infringers; track in database.
• Identify specimens for trademark filings and respond to usage requests.
• Study history and agreements for IP provisions and disputes.
• Assist with USPTO and Copyright Office filings and file management.
• Maintain IP matter files and ensure retention policy compliance.
• Support anti-ambush efforts during Olympic/Paralympic Games.

Here's a summary of responsibilities:

Reporting to the Sr. Associate General Counsel of Marketing & Intellectual Property, the Paralegal, IP supports efforts to protect Olympic, Paralympic, and other USOPC intellectual property (IP) rights.

Here’s how you’ll have an impact:

• Investigateintellectual propertyinfringement matters and draftletters and other correspondence to trademark/copyrightinfringers.Track efforts through database management.
• Look for specimens for trademark filings.
• Draft responses to requests to use USOPC marks.
• Study and conduct research ofhistory andexisting agreements for provisions related to IP inquiries or disputes.
• Assist in managing U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)and U.S. Copyright Officefilings and maintaining internal files.
• Organize and maintain all IP matter files and ensure compliance with the USOPC’s document retention policy.
• Support anti-ambush efforts during the Olympic & Paralympic Games.
• Conduct IP research projects as needed.
• Assist marketing & IP attorneys in reviewing, research, revising, and finalizing IP agreements. Attend negotiation meetings, take detailed notes and prepare contract drafts at counsel’s direction in compliance with USOPC standards.
• Assist with matters relating to IP litigation, including legal research, document production, writing memoranda, and maintaining a status log of ongoing cases.
• Perform other dutiesin the areas of marketing &IPasassigned.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

• High school diploma
• Associate’s Degreepreferred
• Paralegal certification
• 3+years oflegalexperiencein intellectual property law with a focus on trademark practice, including supporting a significant trademark portfolio,preferably in a large firm and/or corporate environment
• Experience withamateur or professional sports organizations beneficial but not required
• Robust knowledge oftrademarkandcopyright lawsand licensing issues.
• Appreciation and sensitivity toward public relations issues
• Working knowledge of social media and internet platforms
• Excellentwritten and verbalcommunication and organization skills

Here's some more information you need to know:

• Hiring pay range $36.00 - $38.00 per hour.
• This Full-Time, Non-Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
• Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 5% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
