Job summary

CGS is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join a fast-paced legal team to assist with a broad range of legal accounts. The role reports to the Office of General Counsel and involves researching, drafting, discovery processing, and preparation of legal documents and memoranda.

The position requires a paralegal certificate or JD (or current ABA-accredited law school enrollment) with at least two years of litigation paralegal experience and solid knowledge of LEXIS/Westlaw.

Qualifications

  • Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience is required; trial experience is very helpful.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support. Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Role also requires hands‑on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • The ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support reporting to the OGC.
  • Receive, prioritize, and process requests such as document review or requests for advice or legal technical assistance.
  • Research and locate responsive information, documents and identify relevant laws and cases.
  • Perform moderately complex legal research and draft memoranda and correspondence.
  • Assist in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions and briefs; conduct legal analysis and review documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Review materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and prepare privilege logs.
  • Maintain documentation of records produced in discovery and case management functions.
  • Assist in drafting preservation notices and litigation holds.
  • Generate reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case management databases.
  • Coordinate classification reviews with subject matter experts and conduct overlays of material from classification review.
