Job summary

CGS is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to join a fast-moving, in-house government legal team. This role supports various aspects of the litigation portfolio, including eDiscovery activities, workflow management, and attorney support.

Responsibilities include drafting complex legal documents, reviewing materials, and coordinating with law enforcement and victim/witness staff. Proficiency with LEXIS/Westlaw, CM/ECF filing, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate, JD, or ABA-accredited law school student (1+ year completed).
• At least two years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience helpful.
• At least one year in automated litigation support with knowledge of federal/state courts.
• Excellent written and oral communication; skilled in LEXIS/Westlaw.
• Strong computer skills including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, hardware.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technically complex legal documents.
• Review incoming documents for case status and relevance.
• Prepare indictments, warrants, summonses, motions, subpoenas, and legal memoranda.
• Obtain information from case files and agencies for inclusion in documents.
• Ensure documents comply with local court rules and format.
• Assist attorneys for trial by organizing notebooks, exhibits, and lists.
• Coordinate with victim/witness staff on rights and services.
• Use Westlaw/LEXIS for citations and legal research.
• Research citations for accuracy and consistency.
• Proofread and revise briefs.
• Electronically file with the U.S. District Court via CM/ECF.
• Organize tables of contents, indices and lists of cited cases.
• Draft correspondence requiring legal terminology.
• Transmit proposed orders to the court and request extensions.
• Notify attorneys of developments in cases.
