Job summary

Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) in Tumwater seeks a Paralegal 2 to support attorneys in a busy Legal Support Unit. You will draft enforcement documents, conduct legal research, organize discovery, and help prepare for hearings and negotiations.

The role emphasizes deadline management, process improvements, and collaboration with colleagues to ensure accurate, timely legal actions in Washington's insurance regulatory program.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience through paralegal certification and/or paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney or equivalent.
• One year of experience as a Paralegal 1 is acceptable as alternative.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to type 40 words per minute; capable of following directions and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide paralegal support to insurance attorneys on a diverse caseload of administrative enforcement matters.
• Draft administrative enforcement orders, legal correspondence, motions and discovery requests.
• Analyze case facts, conduct legal research, and identify relevant authorities.
