The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner seeks a Paralegal 2 for the Legal Support Unit in the Tumwater Office. You will support attorneys on enforcement matters, perform legal research, draft orders, organize discovery, and help prepare for hearings.

Qualificações

• Four years of paralegal experience through certification and/or paraprofessional support.
• One year of experience as a Paralegal 1.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to type 40 wpm.
• Demonstrated ability to follow directions, comprehend directives and regulations; strong reporting skills.
• Experience managing calendars with attention to deadlines.

Responsabilidades

• Provide paralegal support to attorneys on a diverse caseload of administrative enforcement matters.
• Draft administrative enforcement orders, legal correspondence, motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Analyze case facts, identify relevant legal issues and conduct legal research using case law databases and other resources.
• Research and identify relevant legal authorities and comparable cases to support proposed enforcement actions.
• Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy, formatting, grammar, spelling, citations, and consistency.
• Organize and manage discovery materials, case exhibits, hearing documents, trial notebooks, and other materials needed for legal proceedings.
• Assist attorneys with prehearing conferences, administrative hearings, settlement negotiations and the coordination of lay and expert witnesses.
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files and records using agency systems and databases.
• Monitor case schedules, compliance requirements and critical deadlines to ensure timely completion of legal actions.
• Collaborate with attorneys and colleagues to standardize work, streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Communicate professionally with OIC employees, managers, attorneys and external contacts while maintaining confidentiality.
