Responsibilities

  • Coordinate legal documents and workflows across multiple stakeholders, departments, and operating companies.
  • Provide support on corporate legal, administrative, and operational matters.
  • Conduct basic legal and business research and summarize findings for internal stakeholders.
  • Provide executive-level administrative and organizational support to the legal and operations teams.
  • Track projects, deadlines, documentation, and action items to ensure timely completion.
  • Support contract administration, document review, organization, and workflow management.
  • Use spreadsheets to organize, analyze, and manage legal and business data.
  • Maintain accurate corporate records, filings, documentation, and other legal files.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on legal, operational, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and help implement more efficient workflows.
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for Star Equity's operating companies, demonstrating initiative, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Support special projects and other paralegal and legal-administrative responsibilities as needed.

About the Role

Star Equity is seeking a highly organized and proactive Paralegal to support its in-house legal and operations teams.

This role will provide broad support across corporate legal matters, documentation, filings, contract administration, research, data analysis, and strategic projects. The Paralegal will work closely with the legal team, internal stakeholders, and operating companies, serving as a trusted and dependable point of contact.

The ideal candidate is someone who naturally takes ownership, communicates proactively, keeps stakeholders informed, and can confidently manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate legal documents and workflows across multiple stakeholders, departments, and operating companies
  • Provide support on corporate legal, administrative, and operational matters

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly proactive and accountable someone who takes ownership and follows through without needing to be asked repeatedly
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Responsive and service-oriented, with an "I've got this" attitude and a commitment to keeping stakeholders informed
  • A strong written and verbal communicator who is comfortable working with executives and cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable working independently while also being a collaborative team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets, with the ability to organize and analyze business and legal information
  • Comfortable working with confidential information and maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Experienced with filing, documentation, records management, and general legal administration
  • Interested in developing deeper expertise in corporate law, business operations, and legal strategy
Preferred Background
  • Prior experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or similar role supporting an in-house corporate legal team
  • Experience with corporate legal documentation, contracts, filings, or records management
  • Exposure to business, finance, or investment-related environments is a plus
  • Candidates considering law school or looking to build a long-term career in corporate legal work are encouraged to apply

Legal or finance experience is helpful, but mindset matters most. Star Equity is looking for someone who is smart, curious, highly dependable, willing to learn, and eager to take on increasing responsibility.

Compensation & Location
  • Base Salary: $75,000-$85,000, depending on experience
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid
  • Schedule: Three days per week in the office
